Life is a painting

I have been painting over past works that just didn’t feel right. There is something about painting over an old painting that is tremendously freeing. I joyously paint on top of shapes and colors with great abandonment. Since I don’t want to save what is already on the canvas I can just plunge right in with no cares. Often I use a color that is totally alien to the existing color story just to shake it and me up! If there is a part that I like I leave it alone and work around it. I paint layers upon layers and colors over colors, constantly repainting. I also keep turning the canvas upside down, walk away, get some distance and then come back with a whole new perspective on what is happening. The new painting has very little to do with the original painting, it is ever changing, just as the past has nothing to do with the present, and the present is gone in the future! Life is a painting always changing!
This is an example of a painting that I completely overhauled
